Information for Guests

We’re so delighted that you will be joining the couple for their special day at Cott Farm, our beautiful countryside wedding venue in Somerset. From rolling lawns and fairy-lit beams to delicious food, drinks and dancing, every detail here is designed to help you relax, celebrate, and be part of something wonderfully memorable.

To make sure everyone enjoys the day – while respecting the law, our neighbours and everyone’s comfort – we’ve put together a few helpful notes for guests. If you have any questions at all, the venue team will be very happy to help.

Arrival and Departure

Before You Arrive
Parts of the venue are outdoors, including the couple’s hope for an wedding ceremony on the lawn. Please bring suitable footwear and weather-appropriate outerwear.

Arrival
Please aim to arrive about 30 minutes before the ceremony starts. This gives you plenty of time to find seating, settle in and soak up the atmosphere before the happy couple make their entrance.

Departure
Please check the finish time on your invitation. All weddings and events will finish no later than midnight on a Saturday (or 11pm for weekdays). Cott Farm is in a beautiful rural setting so mobile phone signal can be patchy. If you’re booking a taxi, please plan this well in advance (see below).

Transport

Parking: There is ample parking in our private field.

Trains: Our nearest train stations are Crewkerne and Yeovil. Both stations are a short taxi journey from the venue.

Taxis: must be pre-booked (it is almost impossible to find one available at short notice!). There are several taxi companies in Yeovil and Crewkerne, including Radio Cabs (01935 426666) and Yeovil A2Z.

Buses: It’s possible to arrive by bus (from Yeovil direction, ask your bus driver to stop at the lay-by before Broad Lane just after they leave the village). There are no night buses in our rural location.

Airports: The nearest airports are Bristol (approx. 1 hour) and Bournemouth (approx 1.5 hours).

Helicopters: Helicopters may land at the farm by prior arrangement. Please contact us for details.

Food & Drink

Our talented kitchen and bar team will be serving a carefully curated menu. The newly-weds-to-be will have (hopefully!) asked you to RSVP with your dietary requirements, and they will pass your reply on to our team. If you have special dietary requirements and are concerned about what arrangements have been made for you, please contact us.

Drinks will be available from the bar from after the ceremony onwards. There’s a great selection of cider, beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks. Cash and cards are accepted, plus there’s a QR code for bar table service.

For both safety and licensing reasons, bringing your own food and drink is not permitted anywhere on site. All food and drink consumed on the premises must be supplied by the venue.

Accessibility

The venue is all ground level and the outside areas are gravel or grass. The Barn itself has a very gentle concrete slope leading to the entrance with tri-fold doors. There is a separate level access toilet.

Our main car park is grass but there is some hardstanding available for less-mobile guests. Please let us know if you have any special requirements.

Confetti

We are a farm and confetti can be fatal to grazing animals, therefore we strictly do not allow synthetic confetti (including the paper variety labelled ‘biodegradable’) anywhere within the grounds. Only natural flower petals are permitted.

Camping & Glamping at Cott Farm

If the couple has chosen to include our campsite as part of their wedding celebration: you’re welcome to bring a tent to stay overnight. Campervans, motorhomes and caravans are also permitted, but please note that the camping field is grass only – there is NO hardstanding, electric hook-up, water fill-up point, waste disposal facilities, or rubbish bins. You’ll need to come fully prepared and self-sufficient for your stay, and leave nothing but memories behind!

Toilet facilities are a short walk from the field, so we recommend bringing sensible footwear and a torch – especially for after dark.

To ensure everyone has a comfortable, safe and enjoyable night, we kindly ask that you follow these simple rules:

  • No fires or cooking equipment are permitted anywhere on site.
  • Bringing your own food and drink is not permitted anywhere on site.
  • No amplified music is permitted in the campsite.
  • Please take all rubbish and litter home with you.
  • Keep noise to a minimum after 11pm.
  • Smoking is not permitted inside our bell tents.
  • Cigarette butts can be fatal to the animals that normally graze the field – please ensure these are fully extinguished and safely removed from site.
  • Camping is only permitted on the wedding night.
  • The campsite must be fully vacated by midday on Sunday.

If the campsite has not been booked:
Camping is only permitted if the couple has booked the campsite option. If not, all guests are kindly asked to arrange accommodation off-site as camping or sleeping in vehicles at Cott Farm is not permitted. There is a Caravan and Motorhome Club site in the village: Weston House, East Chinnock. Or you’ll find camping and glamping options near Crewkerne, including: Wytch Wood Camping & Glamping.

There are also a variety of lovely nearby hotels, B&Bs and self-catering cottages in the surrounding area – please see below.
